‘Another Place by Antony Gormley’ is a much-loved and iconic example of both active and interactive sculpture. Located along the shore of Crosby, the 100 cast iron figures, modelled on Gormley himself, face the sea at deliberate intervals along its beachfront. I looked upon one of these, early one morning, and to me, he seemed quite different in comparison to all of the others. He stood half-buried in sand and poignantly looked on, as if all that he knew was now entirely lost. I was sure that he knew that in no time, the waves would break over him.
