Graham Smillie

I have been photographing my life since the early eighties – mostly around the music and political life of Liverpool; it’s exciting and turbulent times.

The photographs on show here reflect a small part of the musical side of things. At the time I was a roadie for Pete Wylie, It’s Immaterial and the Pale Fountains (all musicians from Liverpool) and this allowed me an occasionally privileged viewpoint.

These images are a small selection from this time in Liverpool music history.

I still take pictures of bands that I see locally, and I work with locally based star in the making, Beija Flo, and the Secret Circus an Alt-Cabaret group of wonderful weirdos.

I am currently working on personal projects around the city, looking for a direction since the disruption of Covid.
