I am a Liverpool based artist and spend my time between Liverpool, the Lake District, and the Canary Islands. I use art as a visual storytelling method, evoking emotions and visuals that draw you into their depth.
I channel creativity to explore beauty, peace, and serenity yet like to provoke something to make the viewer want to look further. I have recently felt the pull to pick up the paint brush again as I studied art in school: my favourite subject. Following on, I painted for relaxation whenever I had the chance. When my children were young we would spend hours painting but life gradually gets in the way and time slips by.
My profession as an interior designer is a hectic life and I have gradually pulled back to allow time to do what I love best… painting! I love to experiment with abstract art finding different methods of creating dramatic landscapes.
My work is not based on photographs. I take inspiration from current surroundings, memories, or what I am feeling when I start to paint. Pursuing art gives me a sense of balance and provides me with a unique way of telling stories about life and dreams through colours and forms. Being able to express myself through art is a wonderful feeling.
I work mainly with acrylic paints on stretched canvas; my preferred technique is with a pallet knife as the textures bring the painting to life. Using this technique lets me build up the layers adding depth and tone to create inspiring conversation pieces. I have so many inspirations but not any in particular as the internet, museums, and art galleries have such a wide variety of artists to appreciate! Styles change so rapidly… there is always amazing talent to admire.
My goal is to be an artist with my work exhibited in galleries all over the world and gracing the walls of beautiful homes and commercial spaces to and inspire the viewers of my work.
This collection is titled ‘Limitless’ and is a reflection of my love for water which represents to me calmness. I went through a troubled time in my life and when I swam I felt most at ease and able to work through anything (in my head). The waves for me are a reflection of our ever changing circumstance’s…and every piece has a bright centre!
